according to me megadeth is the greatest rock band ever.but thats my opinion so ppl tell me which one is your fav and also the greatest rock band ever and pls dont tel jonas brothers pure rock no hannah potato or sissy brothers.

Megadeath is not exactly Rock.
It's Heavy metal.
As for Classic Rock, I listen to AC\\DC and The Scorpions.
Black Sabbath in some cases too.
Metallica too, but they're a Metal band.
In all the other subcategories I really like
Red Hot Chili Peppers,
Green Day,
and quite a lot more, though these are the ones I especially like.
I also like Rage Against The Machine, and System of a Down, but they're not Rock bands from any angle.
It's Heavy metal.

oh btw!!!!u wont consider this band as rock but then also bowling for soup is one hell of a band(frigging kikass lyrics)

Talking about rock bands, I don't really stick to any particular one. People suggest me random songs and I download. I can't really differentiate much between classic rock, alternate, metal, hard, heavy metal n other details but talking about rock broadly, I'll go for Green Day, Metallica, Poets of the Fall, Linkin Park. Listened to AC/DC too from Supernatural soundtracks, they seem pretty good.

My favourite "classic rock" band is The Doors....simply the most magical ride ever had, with God (also known as Jim Morrison) at the lead.
Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and early Black Sabbath can also be considered. Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC and Queen too. Anything that came out after the 80s should not be considered classic. [ai-chan's list is near perfect]
And definitely not Linkin Park, Green Day, Metallica, POTF, Megadeth and others..
