Ah the age old question of the chicken and the egg. i mean "anime and cartoon".
im sure there are a lot of you, like me, have figured it out.
both of them suck.
but so does live-action.
the point is: nobody cares!
as long as we are entertained, nobody cares.
but at the same time it is unfair to call one superior to the other. everything has it's pros and cons. mostly cons but still,... hey, you get the point, yes?

Cartoons are American, they have simple plots and backgrounds, using simple animation, and most of em are comedy shows, and to entertain children.
Anime are Japanese, they have much more broader plots and storylines, much more mature, and the viewable age: teens+

That was true a few years back too. There are very little anime with good standard but all of them are good clean fun... well there was Pokemon, but I'll overlook that.
That was probably the reason why I jumped to manga.

They come from different backgrounds so for the respective people, its the best thing in the whole wide world (WWW

Differences are always there, but one needs to ignore them to enjoy it. You seriously can't say Angelina Jolie is revealing too much in Tomb Raider. On the other hand some may call it Hawt!!

There is no need to compare Cartoons and Anime, I think.
Nowadays much of the new stuff on CN suck....so does on Animax. My only hope is in the old stuff both in the Cartoon world or Anime world.

Why in the world are people comparing anime and cartoon??? I love cartoons and anime both...even at this age, I can't get enough of Tom and Jerry!! (guess that will never change)
and good anime is always respected..
the only thing that bothers me is that people call 'anime' 'cartoons' (in a satirical tone)...which is so irritating...
or worse...they don't even know what anime is!!
(ps: I remember talking about ANIMe once and a bunch of losers thought I was talking of ANIMals.....wtf!!!)
