Gandu (Bengali slang for Loser/A-hole)

I have never seen this film. And I will probably never get the chance (in a long while). But this is the most cant-wait-to-watch Bengali film I've heard of in a long time.

The reason why I say I wont get to see the film in a long while, is in the name. Gandu. Its a slang. And hence, it will probably never be released in India. After all Indians are big wittle babies still drinking milk after 60 years of (so-called) independence.

Other reasons for not releasing this film are: full frontal nude scenes (male), masturbation scenes (male), sex scenes, porn scenes, nude scenes of various sorts (male, female) and the wonderful array of Bengali gaalis that are used. [For example the Bengali/Hindi versions of Motherf***er and all the associated f***er gaalis. And lets not forget the drug scene.


Now I really dont know how good the film is. It may not be that good. But given that the film deals with issues the common Bengali cannot even dream of (forget seeing on film in their own dirtied mother-tongue), I cant wait.

This shit seems bloody good and even more depressing than Oldboy or Requiem for a Dream. I would want to watch it in parts. Am not in a mood for manic depression anytime soon.

However, it's absolutely shocking it's an Indian movie. I just hope it isn't made with the sole purpose of gaining from the shock value.

I dont think it was made to just gain from the shock value. But the shock is absolutely necessary to resurrect a dying/dead industry. Besides, it won't gain anything from shock value as it will probably never be released in India (at least not in an untouched state).

Q's other film Love In India (which is a sort of documentary about love, sex, passion in India where Q himself and his wife/girlfriend appear) has already won a Silver Lotus for Best Film on Family Values in National Film Awards for 2010.

Y'know, in Marathi, "Gandu" means "Eww". XD

Um...it means the same thing in Marathi too. Depends on the pronunciation.
