The series as a whole is pretty average..i'd give it...a 6.5/10....
In order --> Golems eye > Amulet of samarkhand > Ptolemy's gate.
I liked how he was rather dark in golems eye...but...ptomely's gate was rather sad...
I eagerly await the 4th book (supposedly september 14th..) which will no longer make this a trilogy...
but it's not really been popularly announced...it's on like..amazon and wiki... =/ oh well...amazon says (the audiobook) is to be called The ring of solomon...

Nyu! The rar file I grabbed off the net had Amulet of samarkhand as no.1. Sigh! I am not into magic and stuff so I got bored beforehand with all the plane talk and morphing entities. I read it till the part where he manages to steal the amulet and meets an old friend who has taken the form of a Chef and then I dropped it.

Well I did get confused because right in the start Bartimeus chances upon a 'Golem's Eye' in the house he's about to steal from. Anyhow I dropped the series coz I'm not into these mahou stuff ^^
