i can't see many threads dealing with Hindi music. Thanks to Pritam an Anu Malik, we have come under the impression most of the hindi music is copied. its true, mostly. but there are a few those stand out. this thread is a tribute to all such ones.
talk about your fav ones here.

I don't know if "Love Aaj Kal" has any of the Remakes in them, but I enjoy listening to "Twist", "Aahun Aahun" and "Aaj Din Chadheya".

'Raahat Fateh Ali Khan' really gave life to the song "Aaj Din Chadheya".

The remixes by DJ Sang are also nice.

I also enjoy nearly all the songs in Dil Chaata Hai.

Anyone remembers the movie Sarfarosh? Aamir Khan? Long ago. I liked songs from that movie too. The title song "Sarfarosh" mainly.

pritam is a sound designer not a composer.his profile also says the term designer only.all the songs in love aaj kal are old punjabi folk songs.last good ost that i heard of a movie was kaminey and dev-d.hindi music died with rd burman long tym bak only ar rahman is left.shankar-ehsaan-loy are obsessed with there electric guitar and now they have started to sound more like jason mraz and delhi heights.its time for government to step in and punish ppl like pritam and anu malik instead of giving them national awards!!

Hey guys... hindi/indian music does not merely equate to movie music... Try to think of names like Lucky Ali... Silk Route.... Euphoria.... Kailash Kher.... then there are the Pakistani bands.... also good.... Strings.... Junoon... then there was that band... Josh...

Dunno why.... but just looking at Anu Maliks face I suddenly get the urge to knock him out... it wouldnt matter even if he wasnt such a jackass.... he just has a face which sets me off...

In India hindi music is defined mostly by playback singing. So bulk of my fav. singers fall in that category.

Playback Singers:
Old: Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Mohammad Rafi, Aasha Bhosle, Mukesh, Jagjit Singh, Mahendra Kapoor etc.
New: Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Adnan Sami, Shaan, Kavita Krishnamoorty, Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu etc.

Others:
KK, Lucky Ali, Ali Haider, Euphoria, Fuzon, Jassi, Kamaal Khan, Kunal Ganjawala, Strings, Atif Aslam etc (some of these are Pakistani singers/group - but since their albums have been released in India, I'm clubbing them together).

Some of the best. Though they monopolised the stage back then, and no new singers made the light in those times, these singers still DID sing some good songs! Not some, MANY!

I've liked many of Rafi's songs, I even liked most of the songs sung in Dev Anand Films - I still need to find out the singers in most of them. But these are the few best.

Lolz... I was diggint through my old playlists and I came across this one song whose music video I absolutely LOVED.... Kya Soorat Hai By the Bombay Vikings. I didnt like many (or perhaps any) of their other songs... but this was one I liked.... mainly cause of the Video... it was too fricking hilarious.....

I guess you are right ai.... and yes.... your list pretty much wraps up all the good artists I had neglected to mention... surprised to see someone else who knows about Fuzon though... Try Silk Route and OM if you can find em.

Dooba Dooba By Silk Route.

What a BRILLIANT Song.
I heard it when I was a kid and it's still fresh in my memory.
Give it a try everybody, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Thats Breathless.
You'll be DEFINITELY blown away with his vocals, it's VERY hard to sing in Hindi that quickly.

But do notice the lyrics too, they're quite beautiful.
