Plot: Situated in 18th century France, Jean-Baptiste
Grenouille is a man born with almost supernatural smelling sensation is born in
extremely deprived condition. But as he discovers his powers, he is in a
pursuit of smelling, detecting and identifying all the smells on the face of
earth. Gradually, while still trapped in his ghetto like existence, he manages to
succeed. His next aim- to be able store all such smells, especially the ones
that are human i.e. the sweet smells emanating from pretty ladies. He assists a
perfumer and uses his faculties to get to be able to do it. Basically, he wants
to make an odour that makes people experience paradise on earth, and according
to his perfumer master, its happened once. And thus, he goes on killing the
ladies and stores their beautiful body scents, thus creating a terror all over
the city of Grasse.
Blend some incredible acting by Ben Whishaw and Alan Rickman(remember Snape of
Harry Potter), one of the most inventive script, an ethereal beauty of an
actress(Rachel Hurdwood) and a direction-to-swear-by and you get Perfume that
produces a disturbingly pleasant odour while taking you through the abnormal
life of an obsessed-with-odours. The climax is so unexpectedly startling, you
just can't help being agape. The movie starts on a relatively slow note but as
it progresses, it escalates the standards of excellence to heavenly heights. You
actually need time to recover from the knocking-you-mute-with-admiration effect
the movie renders on you. All through the movie, you want the creepy
protagonist dead, but the earnestness with which he is in the pursuit of his
goal makes you melt. All the way, you are in a dilemma. And that's where the
script and the director triumphs.
Its an absolute must-watch. Its no timepass with your buddies kinda movie,
unless they are all critics. It calls for a concentrated mind for its viewing. Daone's
rating 8.5/10.

I found this movie to be half decent... faltered towards the end though... although the ending itself was fitting in a sense... I guess the subject matter was not very interesting to me...

I've watched the movie...and I really liked the way in which they show the protagonist make the perfumes.
and yeah its like your in dilemma but you just cant stop watching until the end *o*

I really liked the concept of the story in the sense that they show a guy who is so gifted and who could survive by peddling 'normal' perfumes, but is so bent upon the creation of his masterpiece that he would stop at nothing...

Quite a good movie, but I found the ending kind of abrupt.

Perfume is one hell of a movie..
To think that there can be a movie about a person's fascination with odours is mind boggling. Moreover his single minded dedication in preparing the ultimate perfume, not even thinking once before murdering the women with the best smell, is SCARY!! The climax was very very disturbing... Badgers your head with the question 'why why WHY???'
A story about a bottle of perfume that didn't let me sleep for two nights?? Worth a watch!!!
