you can't miss out this guy no matter how resentful u r of hindi music. his genius, the variety in his songs make him one of the rare gems in india. his latest album KAILASA CHANDAAN MEIN is his most soulful, going by some of the songs i chanced upon.
1. the title song Chandaan mein
2. Piya ghar aavenge
are 2 most recommended songs. his distinctive style of singing and writing from woman's perspective is what stands out. and as for his voice, i got no words.

I liked most of his music... I think the 1st song of his that I had heard was Allah Ke Bande... Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II.... but it somehow bothers me that he often has lyrics which come from a female 'perspective'... dunno why that is...

that struck me too initially. but you know what- that's double standards. we never gape at female artists singing from male perspective. i can't recall any names now but i have observed that. but kher is labelled whiny n girly. sad. if you want to talk about whiny, check out avril.

isnt he judging the best indian band in some dumb channel which is tryin to pull of a new trend of band music remixing songs with dandiya beats to drums

Dont get me wrong... I like his music... prefer it over most other stuff... but it just bothered me in a... err... different aspect? something I couldn't explain even if I tried... like an itch in the back of my mind. I didn't mean it as a complaint... but initially, it just felt odd.

@jin: i guess yes. i remember reading it in one of his album reviews.
@kyo: if that, then the legendary song 'laaga chunari me daag' should also bother you. does it?

Yes... they all do to some extent... but in his case there were just more examples...
and like I said... I got used to it...

currently, he's judging a music reality show ROCK ON. leaves a significant mark in each of his shows. great guy he is.

Dont watch much TV... and these contest type shows are really not my thing to begin with...
